California’s Top 10 Environmental Disasters

(EnviroNews California) — While talking with Erin Brokovich, the question about the worst environmental disasters in California history came up.

The following list of the top 10 man-made environmental disasters that California has ever experienced contains some disturbing information about what the government and corporations have done and not done when it comes to nuclear waste disposal, dried up lakes, fossil fuel leaks, pesticide spills and other issues.

The list is by no means exhaustive and focuses on disasters that have been largely ignored – both by mainstream media and the government that is supposed to protect people from the ravages of environmental degradation and the corporations responsible for it. Some of those disasters are even the result of government negligence and ignorance.

Environews recognizes that the worst disaster is the one that has personally affected you. We want to be sensitive to your worries when it comes to environmental issues. If you have something that you would like to add, please use the comment section. We only ask that you keep it civil, because the only way we will ever be able to create the change we want to see is if we can all communicate openly with one another.
