Why Does This Man Sit in Federal Prison for Saving Canyonlands National Park From Fraudulent Oil Drilling?

(EnviroNews Utah) — Salt Lake City, Utah — Your heart can hardly help but bleed after knowing that this soft-spoken intelligent man of strong conviction, hailed by many as a climate hero, will be spending two long years in Federal prison.

As a college student, DeChristopher bid on oil and gas leases and effectively shut down the Southern Utah lease auction, which in turn, led to the pristine wilderness land that was at stake, rolling over into the Obama administration where it was subsequently protected.

Even though the original auction was deemed as fraudulent after Obama appointees saturated Federal agencies, DeChristopher was convicted nonetheless, largely because he refused to take an apologetic position while continuing to speak actively about the Southern Utah environmental injustice.

He remained vocal throughout the course of his trial, and was not permitted to present corroborating scientific evidence to support his moral beliefs regarding climate change. Monica Bellenger reporting.
