Rep. Jack Draxler Announces His Sponsorship of Pro-Natural Gas Bill HB 70 While Proposing Nothing for Renewables

(EnviroNews Utah) – At what has been deemed as the “Clean Air Challenge” press conference that took place earlier today on Capitol Hill, Governor Gary R. Herbert gave the mic to Representative Jack Draxler of North Logan to discuss his sponsorship of HB 70.

HB 70 seeks to circumvent that EPA approval process for vehicles being retrofitted for natural gas, and instead, would utilize an in-state process that would allow many more automobiles to be converted quickly and for a cheaper cost.

Despite being supported by republicans and democrats alike, many environmentalists claim that America cannot afford to have states ramping up on natural gas infrastructure as it would exacerbate the looming climate crisis. Additionally, many of these same Utah environmentalists say Utah needs strong legislation and infrastructure for zero emission and electric vehicles, as well as renewable energy in general.
